Coverack Cove

A view to the North East and Lowland Point from the road to Coverack Harbour / Lifeboat station .

A small sand and pebble beach is sandwiched between extensive rocky areas .

The rocks to the south and near the Harbour are of Serpentinised Peridotites from the Earths Mantle - lifted tens of kilometres by colliding continents 380 million years ago.

Halfway across the beach the rocks change to a mixture of Serpentine ,Troctolite and Gabbro - a transition zone - 'Moho.'
The boundary between the Earths Crust and the Earths Mantle

Gabbro from the Earths Crust continues to the North , Gabbro was mined from Dean Quarry (near Dean Point) from the 1890's untill 2005 .
