The next cove (Polgwidden), along the coast path is private with access through Trebah Gardens ( a sub-tropical ravine garden laid out in the 1830's by Charles Fox )

Trebah Beach at Polgwidden Cove -
In June 1944 the Americans 29th Infantry Division, embarked from Trebah, the furthest west embarkation point ,for the D-Day assault on Omaha Beach Normandy.
The beach was covered with `matting` and a pier built out into the deeper water to assist with the loading of the US Navy Landing Ship Tank (LST).
