Chun Quoit - Portal Dolmen

Chun Quoit , a Neolithic Portal Dolmen / Chambered Tomb , has the appearence of a giant Mushroom
The closed chamber is formed by 4 large upright leaning stone slabs topped with a massive 8.8 ton Capstone. The stone chamber was used for communal burials in the Neolithic period ( 3000BC - 4000BC ) and has the best preserved chamber in Cornwall .

Parking on the B3318 south of Pendeen at Woon Gumpus Common.
FP to the Quoit / and Chun Castle ( a fine - stone built - Iron Age Fort ) on the high ground above / also Boswens Menhir to the south near the Air traffic control station.
