Porthgwarra Tunnels

To the east of the Slipway are two tunnels driven through the Granite Cliffs.
The tunnels were dug by miners from St Just .
-----------------------------
The tunnel on the left allowed farmers carts to collect seaweed from the beach.
A tunnel on the right allowed fishermen access to the 'Ullies' built in the rocks.
'Ullies' were 6ft deep pits ,originally covered with wooden lids , able to store shellfish for a few days.
